A ROUND OF TENNIS BETWEEN APPRENTIS D'AUTEUIL AND NATHALIE DECHY

The Fondation Lacoste has been funding tennis lessons for youngsters in Apprentis d’Auteuil centres since 2008. To end a year of tennis, an inter-site tournament was held on May 23rd bringing together two hundreds 7-20 year olds from 20 Apprentis d’Auteuil centres.

Like every year, the fantastic Haras de Jardy site set the scene for children and teenagers competing in the sunshine. They were joined by Nathalie Dechy, Foundation member, tennis champion and FFT executive in charge of organising Roland Garros 2017. Despite being in the middle of planning Roland Garros, Nathalie was delighted to grab her racquet and challenge the youngsters on the courts. They may have been a little intimidated to begin with but they soon got into it.

The tennis games ended with a signing and selfie session !

The icing on the cake : 12 of the young Apprentis d’Auteuil were invited to Roland Garros by the Fondation Lacoste on May 31th. A chance for them to attend matches … and to pose with the Fondation Lacoste’s President and Nelson Monfort !
